Event Details/Other Comments:

OPTI 2005 is the Ninth International Conference in this successful series on Computer Aided Optimum Design. The objective of this meeting is to communicate recent advances in optimisation and to demonstrate how the technique can be applied in science and in engineering practice.
The integration of computer aided design together with optimisation techniques is becoming prevalent in all aspects of industry and research, spanning such problems as the design of automobiles, aircraft, bridge structures and space vehicles.
Engineering design is enhanced by adding optimisation methods and their influence cannot be over-emphasised. The resulting solutions provide an efficient way of dealing with some of the most difficult challenges in engineering practice today.
The Conference aims to attract papers describing case studies in engineering, considering static, dynamic analysis and damage tolerance. Manufacturing and structural protection issues are going to be discussed as well as papers on emergent applications in fields such as biomechanics. Contributions on numerical methods and different optimisation techniques are also welcome as well as papers on new software. Optimisation problems of interest to the meeting involve those related to size, shape and topology Previous conferences have been held in Southampton, UK (1989); Boston, USA (1991); Zaragoza, Spain (1993); Miami, USA (1995); Rome, Italy (1997); Orlando, USA (1999); Bologna, Italy (2001); and Detroit, USA (2003).
